Duncan Jones' Moon follow up.

Yes, I haven't updated this blog in a millennia, (give or take) regardless, Duncan Jones has made another film and I need to tell you good people about it.  The trailer is solid, but not overtly impressive, however, the script is apparently very good and has been bouncing around Hollywood without latching itself with the right director.  Lets hope this lovely parasite has now found its proper host.  If you have seen Jones' first film Moon, I think you're anticipation will be as high as mine.

Mark Millar comic, if you know it, you're probably amped like a meth fiend at Andre Agassi's house.  If you don't know it, you're missing out; and this film and it's filmmaker Matthew Vaughan are going to blindside you in a very good way.

Aronofsky's The Black Swan UPDATE

If you haven't heard about Darren Aronofsky's latest project entitled The Black Swan I'll give you a brief rundown.  The story revolves around the rivalry to two ballerina's, both vying for the top spot in a big production after the former star leaves.  The two aforementioned tip-toe enthusiasts will be played by Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis.  What's that you say?  "Sounds pretty lame", "Doesn't sound like an Aronofsky film", "Ballerina's SUCK!"  I know there are a lot of ballet haters out there.  This is an Aronofsky film because the character played by Kunis MAY or MAY not actually be a real person.   

AHH THERE IT IS. 

According to Aintitcoolnews.com, besides the main two, Winona Rider, Barbra Hershey and Vincent Cassel have recently been cast.  

FIX

Fix is the debut narrative film by  documentary filmmaker Tao Ruspoli.  The film has a fly on the wall-docu feel to it, which is no surprise due to Ruspoli's background.   I must say that based upon the two trailers I have viewed and the solid word of mouth and awards it has received, Fix could be the indy movie that could of next year.  

Mary and Max

Mary and Max is a stopmotion claymation film written and directed by Academy Award winning  animator, Adam Elliot.   It is Elliot's first feature length film; he won an Academy award for his short claymation project Harvie Krumpet in 2003.  Elliot tells the tale of a unlikely pen-pal relationship between Mary, a lonely, self conscious 8 year old girl and Max, a 44 year old obese, Jewish man with Aspergers .  Epic in it's scope, particularly for claymation, their story spans 20 years.  The film has garnered a good buzz and a great response so far.  Mary and Max features the voices of Philip Seymour Hoffman, Toni Collette and Eric Bana.  

Norewegian Death Metal, murderous and vile or genius? Or both?

Until The Light Takes Us is a documentary film that follows and dissects the rise and history of Norewegian death metal.  Death or, black metal is a controversial musical subculture that is known as much for it's incredible musicians and layered, staggering pieces as it is for it's alleged links to many serious crimes throughout Norway.  From the looks of it, this piece really gets into the heart of this art form, letting the people who we there from the start tell their story.

I'm not going to say too much, the trailer speaks for itself.  Even if you think Ruppert is a crackpot, conspiracy theorist, a view in which I do not share, there is undeniable facts that in many cases he has been way ahead of the curve.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

This film has been getting a lot of exposure because it is Heath Ledgers last work but people are forgetting all of the other reasons to be brimming with anticipation.  This is a new Terry Gilliam film that looks like an old Terry Gilliam film, ever see Brazil?  The imagery looks astounding, Christopher Plummer delivers in everything he does, this looks like Gilliam at his best.  The trailer looks incredible, I could not be more amped.

Antichrist

Lars von Trier, along with Thomas Vinterberg  is the father of the cinematic movement Dogme95.  Dogme95 is a movement centered on making films immersed and soaking  in pure honesty.  It concentrates on the purity of film and rejects the need for big budgets and special effects opting to place every thought and effort solely on story, characters, and the actors performances.  This includes having no sets.   Everything shot by a filmmaker attempting to make a film that would be considered Dogme95, must be shot on location with no exception.  

From this came the first non porn film with unsimulated sex entitled The Idiots.  All the stuff about Dogme95 aside, the man makes films that are an experience to say the least.  You may not love, like, hate, or even be sure of what you saw but it will definitely be a unique, raw and visceral experience.

Trailer looks good, I like the way it's cut and builds but I am really pumped to see what they do with The Yiddish Policeman's Union next year. Cant think of anyone more perfect to bring that novel to the screen.

Youth in Revolt

Based on the series by C.D. Payne, Miguel Artera brings us Youth in Revolt.  I have never read the books but the trailer looks sort of like Fight Club for sexually frustrated teens and in no way do I mean that in a negative way.  Michael Cera was starting to get on my nerves a little bit but seeing him as Francois with that distinguished, 

magnanimously-magnum stash makes my annoyance just float away.

Inception teaser

This teaser really shows nothing because well it is just that, a teaser and the film isn't even finished yet.   

First off it's a new Nolan film and my rule for Cameron spans across a few directors one being Mr.Nolan, getting into the cast is almost comical how many heavy hitters signed on:

Leonardo Dicaprio, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Michael Caine, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, 

Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, Lucas Haas, Ken Wantanabe.

Inception wont be hitting theaters for a long while yet, therefore it is destined to leave my hype for it growing like a festering abscess that will not be drained till it's thankfully inevitable release date.  

Avatar

Ok, I have a rule; it's fairly elementary in structure and I tend to adhere to it quite rigidly whenever it arises. The rule is stated as follows: (When James Cameron makes a film...go see it.) 
I've been reading about Avatar for about 7 years, a number which you may think is an exaggeration but in reality it's probably longer than that.
So honestly if you haven't had a look at the Avatar teaser, you must indulge.

And to the sudden outcry by everyone who is pissed their mind wasn't totally blown by this trailer and are now on a mission to tell everyone Avatar is going to suck, and Cameron is a dick and it's land before time 3 or something idiotic and completely unwarranted , just shut up.  Don't judge a finalized film by a small trailer.  

I think it looks very interesting.
