Moon

This film has me so intrigued.  The trailer (embedded below) is absolutely great.
Moon is the debut feature film by Duncan Jones, also known as Joey Bowie; the son of the one and only David Bowie.  And who doesn't love Sam Rockwell?

Sham Wow, You'll say wow...

everytime?

MARCH 27--Meet Vince Shlomi. He's probably better known to you as the ShamWow Guy, the ubiquitous television pitchman who has been phenomenally successful peddling absorbent towels and food choppers. Shlomi, 44, was arrested last month on a felony battery charge following a violent confrontation with a prostitute in his South Beach hotel room. According to an arrest affidavit, Shlomi met Sasha Harris, 26, at a Miami Beach nightclub on February 7 and subsequently retired with her to his $750 room at the lavish Setai hotel. Shlomi told cops he paid Harris about $1000 in cash after she "propositioned him for straight sex." Shlomi said that when he kissed Harris, she suddenly "bit his tongue and would not let go." Shlomi then punched Harris several times until she released his tongue. The affidavit, a copy of which you'll find here, notes that during the 4 AM fight Harris sustained facial fractures and lacerations all over her face (she is pictured here in mug shots snapped following busts in 2008 and 2005). After freeing his tongue, a bleeding Shlomi ran to the Setai lobby, where security summoned cops. Harris refused to cooperate with officers, who recovered $930 from her purse. "Both parties had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from their persons," police reported. In a brief telephone interview, Harris declined to answer TSG questions about her run-in with Shlomi, though she did say she is considering a lawsuit against the pitchman. Asked if she worked as a hooker, Harris declined comment. As seen in the below mug shot, Shlomi was also injured during the fracas and, court records show, was treated at Mount Sinai Medical Center. While Shlomi and Harris were both arrested for felony aggravated battery, prosecutors this month declined to file formal charges against the combatants. Police records list Shlomi's occupation as "Marketing," but make no mention of his affiliation with the ShamWow or the Slap Chop, both of which sell for $19.95 (plus shipping and handling)

In A Dream

For anyone who has been to Philadelphia, you have probably seen a mural like the ones above.  Constructed by Isaiah Zagar, they now cover over 50,000 square feet of the city; filled with bursts of color along with slivers of mirror and tile they are truly a site to behold and help to define the character of Philly.
Isaiah's son, Jeremiah has made a documentary film about his fathers life which has been getting nothing but unrelenting, hyper-positive feedback.
Its called In A Dream; and it looks great.
Check the trailer below.

IN A DREAM: Theatrical Trailer from Herzliya Films on Vimeo.

I implore you to take 2 minutes.

A man named simply Maticulous.
I have came to know this man as quite a superior producer.

To no surprise he made a great remix  (In my opinion better than the original)

So, click on this and cast a vote for it. (it will take you about 2 minutes tops)

Listen first... you'll agree.

3 things.

1. I wonder if there was ever a real artist that had an "Artists do it creatively" bumper sticker.

2.  I have a real problem with the term legally blind because by placing the word legal in front of a word you are thereby implying that there is an illegal counterpart.
Are there police walking the streets and upon spotting an illegally blind person state something to the effect of, "Do not appease this man's alleged lack of sight! He is not legally blind.  I will apprehend this man due to his lack of legal ocular dysfunction"

3. When thinking of the name Trannyman Transmissions, how did not one person involved picture a robust, he-man of a transvestite bent over the hood of a car and veto the name?

I can't believe they apparently premiered this on American Idol.
Nonetheless, sometimes I want to revolt against the hype of a new Tarantino film but then I always give in.
Brad Pitt, BJ Novak, Mike Myers, Samm Levine, Eli Roth, Cloris Leachman...
In other words, Tyler Durden, Ryan Howard, Neil Schweiber, and Ruth Popper...Killin' NAZIS

In case you forgot em, some classics to help pass the mundane, platitudinous day.

New Rian Johnson film

Rian Johnson, writer/director of one of my favorite films in the last few years, Brick; moves away from noir to take on the caper flick.

I'm assuming by now most on you know who Russell Brand is, many of you may have for years.   Heard this interview the other day and had to share it.

The Three Stooges

Apparently the Farrelly Bros. are making a three stooges film with Benecio Del Toro as Moe, Sean Penn as Larry and Jim Carrey as Curly...seriously.

You're stupid (vs) I don't care

Am I the asshole or are they stupid?
I say 'they' and not 'you' because the people who I know read this are not the people in question and anyone else that has stumbled across it and continues to check it out couldn't be one of 'them' either.  Thats not true it could totally be you.
Moving right along; is it simply that I lack the patience needed to function properly as a human being on this glorious rotating sphere of discontent? Or am I surrounded by the most imbecilic people to grace existence as a test, maybe I am the unknowing star of Jesus 2: Jew dont know who yo messin' wit'
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not nearly this mean or pompous or pretentious in person, I get gangsta in a highbrow, verbose, pontificating round house of blog.  My days are spent displaying many an eyeroll accompanied with the occasional look that screams 'did you honestly just say that?' All of these of course only to myself; thereby rendering them useless for anything besides entertaining myself.  Actually, remember the thing I said earlier about my harsh feelings possibly being my own fault?  That was bullshit...it's not me.
Please think.  Think before you let words fall out of your face and scar everyone in listening range.  Its not solely the content of what is said that is so distressing to hear, rather, its the total lack of substance accompanied with gross under-articulation.  On a day to day basis I hear people say things, people that are allegedly educated in real schools by real teachers and are not droids sent from the neather world to perplex me indefinitely; and it is like hearing needles have sex with sand.  (cant grasp what that would sound like? Think nails on a chalkboard only deeper and by the second, exponentially sexier)
These tirelessly mindless conversations about nothing, these horrible little interactions between people who don't care at all, they are just waiting for the other to stop talking so they can release their tidbit of life changing knowledge into the atmosphere with the passionate zest of a salesman at a booth at the mall.  'Hello, do you need help with that?" No, I don't need help with these sunglasses, they're SUNGLASSES, I get it.'
'I don't want a goddamned massage! I'm here to get a sweater for my sister, not get touched by a stranger in front of high school kids.'
And back to my prior thesis; I don't care about the fascinating fact that your dog doesn't eat dry food.
HOLY SHIT, seriously no dry food???
WOW...thats real wacky, have a great day; I'm going to go write about your dog and it's dry food issue in my diary... in my own blood.

Stay positive and reach for the stars,
J

Trailer Thursday

The Hangover-
Directed by Todd Phillips, writer and director of Old School, gotta love this cast.

Public Enemies
Written and directed by Michael Mann whose previous credits include Manhunter, Last of the Mohicans, Heat, The Insider and quite a few more.  The Mann can make a good film.  He didn't just do a play on words with man did he?  I did, I'm ashamed but I wont deny it, I fall victim to them on occasion, remember The Hackening? Anyway, been hearing about Public Enemies for a very long time, Depp, Bale and a ton of others, looks promising.

Drag Me to Hell
Sam Raimi...nuff said.  Well I guess its not nuff said, because Spiderman 3 was garbage.  Sam Raimi back doing what he does best...nuff said.

Harvard Beats Yale 29-29
Everywhere I turn I read something about this documentary told through former players as they tell their experiences in this incredible game.
